RETROP PRODUCTIONS is proud to present a brand new production at A.R.T.’s OBERON.

CLUBLAND is a monster pop party written by Andrew Barret Cox and directed by Jacob S. Porter. Based on the book “Party Monster” by James St. James, CLUBLAND dives into the extravagant lifestyle of ClubKids (ambassadors of the drug-induced dancehall culture that made headlines in the early 1990s).  The events and characters of CLUBLAND mirror real-life Club Kids Michael Alig, James St. James, and the murder of Andre “Angel” Melendez. Premiering at Oberon in Cambridge, MA. CLUBLAND will throw you into the limelight and you may never come back again.

CLUBLAND has been created with special permission by James St. James.

Andrew Barret Cox (Book, Music, Lyrics and Choreography) is a musician, choreographer and performer currently based out of the New England area. Jacob S. Porter (Producer/Director):  founded Retrop Productions, a company focused on the development of new musicals, in the summer of 2011. In the same year he teamed up with Grammy Award winning record label Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records and Emerson College’s Rareworks Theater Company to produce a new musical, DARLING at Emerson College. Jacob reenergized student theater at Emerson College, by introducing a new model of collaborating with established student organizations to present professional productions and experiences to the greater college community. In addition to producing and developing new musicals, he has directed several productions including Dear Edwina and It’s A Bird It’s A Plane It’s Superman!   Jacob has spent the past several months working at SpotCo, an international entertainment ad agency in NYC. “Collaboration with intelligent, passionate, driven people is the key to success. Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” —Henry Ford. (www.retropproductions.com)
