BIOGRAPHY

John Lithgow

John Lithgow’s extensive Broadway credits include, among others, The Changing RoomRequiem for a HeavyweightDivision StreetBeyond Therapy, and M. Butterfly, and the musicals Sweet Smell of Success and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He has appeared in over thirty films including The World According to Garp and Terms of Endearment (Oscar nominations for both), All That JazzBlow OutTwilight Zone: The Movie, Ricochet, andCliffhanger. He has won two Tony Awards (out of three nominations), Five Emmys (our of eleven nominations), four Grammy nominations, and two Oscar nominations.  He also received three Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for his work on the hit NBC comedy series 3rd Rock from the Sun. This year he won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his work on Showtime’s Dexter.  He is the author of eight New York Times best-selling children's picture books.  During his undergraduate years at Harvard University, Mr. Lithgow was a member of the Harvard Radcliffe Dramatic Club and appeared numerous times on the Loeb Drama Center stage. Designated Master of the Arts at Harvard, Lithgow is one of the co-founders of ARTS FIRST, Harvard’s annual festival of the arts, and has also served on the Harvard Board of Overseers. He received a Doctor of Arts Honorary Degree from Harvard in 2005. His upcoming memoir, DRAMA: An Actor's Education, is due out in September.
