BIOGRAPHY

Rafael Jaen

No Exit: costume design. Has designed costumes for projects in the USA, Spain, Scotland, and Venezuela, including Beau Jest's Krazy Kat (Spoletto Festival); Apocalypses (Prometheus Dance); Attic (Ipswich Moving Co, Edinburgh Festival); First Use of Ether as Anesthesia (Ether Dome mural, MGH); Under Milk Wood (Ablaze Initiative); On Raftery's Hill (Súgán Theater); Alceste (Opera Boston); The Merchant of Venice, Arcadia, and The Comedy of Errors (the Publick Theatre); Epic Proportions, Glass Menagerie, and Urinetown (Lyric Stage). Mr. Jaen is the costume area head and resident designer at Emerson College, Boston. His work has been featured in the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, and Entertainment Design magazine. Focal Press/Elsevier is publishing his book on design-tech portfolios. He holds a BFA in costume design from NYU, and an MA in theater education from Emerson College. He is also a member of USITT and USA chapter 829. Mr. Jaen was nominated for an IRNE Award for best costume design 2005.
