We can hold this history as a predicament versus an affirming myth my recognizing that the history of this country isn’t something to be proud of. It’s a cruel past that completely disregards the rights of so many people and we need to start acknowledging it as that. This honest reckoning with our past helps us move forward together because it helps us reocgnize that it’s wrong, which is a step closer to never repeating it again.
