My story is a part of America's history because my mother immigrated here, she is part of America's immigration story. When creating the Declaration of Independence, it was important to make sure everyone had equal rights. Sadly, people are treated differently because of things that society believes make people less human than others. We can hold this history as a predicament versus an affirming myth by actually educating people about what really happened so there is less room for misinformation. A reckoning would help us lessen the chance of people continuing these predicaments.
