My story is a part of American History because I am a woman of color who’s past includes being a part of a minority community that hasn’t had many rights until only recently. Women could only start voting since recently, and even then it was difficult for a women of color to get access to it. When the founding fathers created the Declaration of Independence, the only rights that truly mattered were those of rich, White, men. They wrote “All men are created equal,” which in and of itself disregards women, but it also excludes Black people who weren’t even considered human.
