When the Declaration of Independence was being written, pretty much the only things that mattered were rich, white men, their property, and their opinions. Since they were the ones writing it, it didn’t really matter to them what other people thought, so they were free to write whatever they wanted. Congress did have some disagreements among themselves, but they didn't seek any other opinions and only wrote what would benefit them. I'd like to thank the ART for putting on this production with such a diverse cast! It was great to see people from so many different backgrounds being represented.
