Text Submission

In creating the Declaration of Independence what mattered was freedom from the crown, keeping slavery, and fighting the British. I think that who I am as a black kid who descended from slaves, I was not what was important in a human sense, but in an economy that largely benefitted from free labor. I was not at all represented in the continental congress. I feel that I was not what mattered in the Declaration of Independence.
