BIOGRAPHY

David Ackroyd

David Ackroyd reprises the role of the Father in Six Characters in Search of an Author, which he last performed during the American Repertory Theater's 1995 tour to Taiwan. He is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama and was a charter member of Robert Brustein's Yale Repertory Theatre, where he played more than twenty-five roles in three seasons. He appeared on Broadway in Philip Roth's Unlikely Heroes, in Full Circle directed by Otto Preminger, and in the Tony Award–winning production of Children of a Lesser God. Other theater appearances include Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf at the Cambridge Theatre Company, A Soldier's Play at the Mark Taper Forum, Hamlet at the New York Shakespeare Festival, and six seasons with the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Mr. Ackroyd has been a guest star on numerous television series, with appearances and recurring roles on Murder, She Wrote, Dynasty, and Cagney and Lacey, as well as the original Gary Ewing on Dallas. He has starred in more than twenty TV films and miniseries.
