BIOGRAPHY

Pony Holmstrom

pony holmstrom

Pony Holmstrom is an artist, writer, public speaker and prison reformer based in and around Boston. After serving four and a half years at Massachusetts Correctional Institution- Framingham, Pony began giving talks at area universities, high schools, and churches about the transformative power of education and mentorship in prison. During her incarceration, she maintained a 3.98 GPA as a student in the Boston University Prison Education Program, and worked with a team of volunteer mentors from the esteemed Partakers Organization. As a result of her experiences, Pony feels compelled not only to educate the public about the need to extend education and services to people who are incarcerated, but also to humanize the often marginalized prison population. She has been invited numerous times to speak at places such as Harvard Law, Harvard Divinity School, Lasell College, and Newton South High School. To make ends meet, Pony also works as a personal assistant and property caretaker.
