A.R.T.’s new home will be located at 175 N. Harvard Street in Barry’s Corner, Allston, a ten-minute walk across the JFK St. bridge from Harvard Square. It will be down the block from the Harvard Athletics Facility, across the street from Harvard Business School, and around the corner from the new Science and Engineering Complex. It will be accessible on foot and by bike, public transit, and car. There will be multiple nearby parking options in the neighborhood.

We look forward to welcoming visitors to the David E. and Stacey L. Goel Center for Creativity & Performance in late 2026 and expect to begin producing shows there in early 2027. In the meantime, A.R.T. will continue to produce at the Loeb Drama Center.

We are committed to creating a space that upholds our institutional values: access and inclusion for all patrons. This includes providing Audio Described, Open Captioned, ASL Interpreted, and Sensory Friendly performances; accommodations for low-mobility patrons including accessible seating and restrooms; and a multi-sensory family room.

Yes, ADA-accessible parking spots will be available on South Campus Drive and a drop-off zone on Ivy Lane. Drop-off locations will be available with more information about exact locations shared in the future.

The building will include two flexible performance venues of different sizes, rehearsal studios, teaching spaces, a spacious public lobby with food and drink, and an outdoor performance yard designed to host ticketed and free programming. It will also include dressing rooms, administrative offices, and technical shops.

Yes! Both the indoor and outdoor spaces will be available for rent with priority access and discounted rates for Allston–Brighton artists and residents.

Meeting Harvard’s ambitious sustainability commitments, the certifiable LEED Gold building is designed to achieve the Living Building Challenge core accreditation from the International Living Future Institute in recognition that it gives more to its environment than it takes. For example, the building’s utilities will be drawn from Harvard’s lower-carbon District Energy Facility and rooftop solar panels will capture clean energy. It is planned to be the first theater in North America to use natural ventilation and will be constructed with compressed laminate timber and reclaimed brick to minimize its lifetime carbon budget.

The building has been conceived and will be programmed to center community. It will be open to all during hours of operation, offering free Wi-Fi, food and beverage service, public restrooms, gathering spaces, and indoor and outdoor public art and performance. It will unlock the resources of Harvard and serve as one of the public’s primary gateways into the University. It will serve Harvard’s student community and be the site of mentorship and training for generations of students across Greater Boston. Its intentional architecture will help us achieve our vision to use the galvanizing power of theater to heal and imagine collective pathways forward.
