Mom’s Best Cherry Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 cups flour

  • 2 tsp. baking powder

  • ½ tsp. salt

  • ½ cup butter

  • 1 egg

  • 1 can cherry pie filling

Directions:

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Add sugar to sifted mixture.

  3. Cut in butter.

  4. Add egg + mix to make crumbs.

  5. Press ½ crumb mixture in bottom of greased pie plate.

  6. Pour cherry filling over crumbs.

  7. Top with remaining crumbs.

  8. Bake at 375° for 30-40 mins.

This poignant and uplifting new musical celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the courage it takes to pluck a long abandoned dream off the shelf. Waitress is a new musical directed by Diane Paulus, featuring music and lyrics by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles.
