Surprise Bottom Pie

 

From the Kitchen of: Jean Lyons from Saugus

Ingredients:

  • 1 unbaked 8” pie shell

  • ⅓ cup baker’s chocolate baking chips

  • 1 package (4 servings) vanilla or butter pecan flavored instant pudding

  • Whipped topping

Directions:

  1. Bake pie shell at 425° for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned. (Remove from oven.)

  2. Immediately sprinkle chips on bottom of pie in a single layer.

  3. Let it stand 3-5 minutes to melt chips. Then spread evenly over bottom + sides of the pie shell. Let it cool.

  4. Prepare pie filling as directed.

  5. Pour at once into choc. crust. Chill for 1 hour. Garnish with whipped topping and additional chips.
