Alexander Marin
Alexander Marin (Acting/Directing) studied under Oleg Tabakov at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts and was a founding member of the Tabakov Studio Theatre in Moscow, where he has appeared in leading roles since 1978. Among his acting credits are Khlestakov in the Inspector General, Long Nose in Two Arrows, Voynitsev in Mechanical Piano, and Epstein in Biloxi Blues. Mr. Marin has taught and directed in Canada, Finland, Hungary, Russia, and the United States. His productions include River on the Asphalt, Legend of Don Juan, and The Chair at the Tabakov Theatre; Uncle Vanya, Master and Margarita (in his own adaptation), and Anthony and Cleopatra at the Centaur Theatre in Montreal; Little Foxes at the Lahti Drama Theatre in Finland; and others. Mr. Marin has taught acting and directing at the Moscow Art Theater School, Russian Academy of Theatre Arts, Carnegie Mellon University, National Theatre School of Canada, and the Stanislavsky Summer School. He is now working in Montreal, where he has recently directed The Emigrants, Swan, and We for his new theater company, Théâtré Deuxieme Realite. His latest production in Russiawas Sublimation of Love, starring Oleg Tabakov and co-produced by the MXAT and the Tabakov Theatre. Mr. Marin was awarded the honorary title of Distinguished Artist of Russia.
