Conor McPherson

One of Ireland's most exciting young playwrights, Conor McPherson (St. Nicholas) won the Evening Standard Most Promising Playwright award and London's prestigious Olivier Award for The Weir, which had a long run on Broadway in 1998. He is co-founder of the Fly by Night Theatre Company, and his other plays include The Good Thief, winner of a Stewart Parker Award; The Lime Tree Bower, which won a Thames TV Award and a Guiness/National Theatre Ingenuity Award, and had a long Off-Broadway run; and Rum and Vodka. In 1996 he was writer in residency at the Bush Theatre, London, which commissioned St. Nicholas, and where it was first performed. St. Nicholas also had an extended run Off-Broadway in 1998. His new play, Dublin Carol, opened recently at the Old Vic in London and is now running at the Royal Court Downstairs.
