John Widgren
After years of playing with top Nashville touring artists, John Widgren is currently a "first call" recording session and live performance player. He has done countless commercials and jingles. He is also a first call musician for WGBH. Film score credits: Andy Warhol (directed by Ric Burns), Astronaut Farmer (directed by the Polish Brothers), Angelo My Love (directed by Robert Duvall). He has played with recording artists including Patti Loveless, Harry Connick, Jr., Commander Cody, Archer/Park, Toby Keith, Kelli O’Hara and Martin Sexton. Widgren has worked as a guest instrumentalist with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra (nationally televised July 4th celebration) and the Mark Morris Dance Group.
