Mimi Lemay

Mimi Lemay is a transgender rights advocate and author living near Boston, MA.  Mimi wrote
the viral essay, “A Letter to my Son Jacob on his 5^th Birthday,” which details and celebrates her son’s transition from assigned female to affirmed male at the age of four. The Lemay family continues to educate and advocate for transgender youth internationally.  They have appeared on NBC Nightly News and the Today Show among other programs.  They have fought for recent Massachusetts legislation protecting transgender and non-binary people from discrimination in public spaces.  Mimi is writing a memoir for Houghton Mifflin on her Ultra-Orthodox Jewish upbringing and her recent experiences parenting Jacob.  She has a Masters in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University and a BA in Iran & US Foreign Policy from Boston University.
