Nicolas Montero
Colombian actor/director Nicolás Montero’s directing credits include Playland by Athol Fugard (Teatro Leonardus, Bogota); Con El Corazon Abierto (The Keening) by Humberto Dorado (Teatro Leonardus and Teatro Nacional, Bogota); The Keening by Humberto Dorado (the American Repertory Theater); Oleanna by David Mamet (Teatro Nacional, Bogota); Don Perlimplin by Garcia Lorca (Teatro Tenikes, London); various adaptations of short stories by Rulfo, Marquez, Faulkner for London’s Central School; and the weekly radio program Sala Vacia (Empty Room) on Musicar FM, Bogota. As an actor he appeared as Sebastian in The Twelfth Night, Ron in A Small Family Business, Selifan in Dead Souls, the young man in Veronica’s Room, Octavio in The Joker of Seville (Teatro Libre de Bogota), and Valentin in The Kiss of the Spiderwoman, among others. He has also been seen in numerous television films and productions in Colombia. Mr. Montero studied anthropology, followed by acting, movement, and directing in Colombia and at the Central School of Speech and Drama in England. He also attended courses in English and philosophy at Cambridge University. He has taught movement in the Teatro Libre de Bogota’s Acting School, as well as theater and anthropology at Universidade Pedagógica de Colombia and Universidad de Rosario. He is the recipient of numerous awards in Columbian theater and television.
