Rob Grader
American Repertory Theater acting credits for Rob Grader (American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University, Class of 1998) include In the Jungle of Cities, Six Characters in Search of an Author, and The Wild Duck. New York credits include New York Theater Workshop, Rattlestick Theater Company, La MaMa Etc., and Circle East, among others. Regional work includes TheaterVirginia (The Last Night of Ballyhoo), City Theater (A Hole In The Dark), and Penobscot Theater Company (Angels in America). Television and film acting credits include Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, The Job, and the HBO film American Splendor.
Rob is the author of the bestselling guide book The Cheap Bastard’s Guide to New York City, which is now in its third edition (Globe Pequot Press). The book received the Lowell Thomas Awards’ Gold Medal for The Best Guide Book of the Year from the Society of American Travel Writers and has given rise to a new series of Cheap Bastard books including guides for Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, and The Cheap Bastard’s Guide to the Good House & Home. Later this year will also see the publication of Rob’s first gift book, The Cuddle Sutra: The No Holds Barred Guide to Cuddling (Sourcebooks). His writing has also appeared in Time Out New York and AM New York.
Rob created and produced the A&E reality series House Of Dreams and is currently developing a TV version of The Cheap Bastard’s Guide. Rob also works as a Licensed Massage Therapist at Bliss Spa in New York City, where he lives with his wife Karen. They are expecting their first child this coming June.
