The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) offers a variety of internship opportunities across departments at the theater.

Internship availability in specific departments is subject to change but past internships have been offered in: Artistic Management, Education and Community Programs, Marketing/Public Relations, Development, and Sound.

Internships are designed for current undergraduate and graduate students, though A.R.T. welcomes applicants not currently enrolled in a degree program, including high school students. All internships are unpaid and housing is not provided. College credit is available for certain internships through the intern's sponsoring institution.

Please note: A.R.T. does not offer internships in directing, design, acting or voice. 


Internships are generally offered during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Individual start dates will vary depending on the department.

  • Applications for Summer internships are due February 15.
  • Applications for Fall internships are due May 1.
  • Applications for Spring internships are due October 15.
