MAR 30, 2018

The 2018 A.R.T. Gala, which was held at the Boch Center Wang Theatre on Monday, March 5, attracted nearly 500 supporters of the arts from around the globe. The event raised nearly $1.3 million for the theater’s community, artistic, and educational programs.

Gala co-chairs Ann & Graham Gund, and Jerry Jordan, greeted guests and spoke about the scope of the A.R.T.’s artistic work. Terrie & Bradley Bloom Artistic Director, Diane Paulus, then introduced A.R.T. Trustee Paul Buttenwieser, the recipient of the 2018 A.R.T. Angel Award.

The evening featured an opening musical performance by Harvard College students Brian Ge and Grant Hoechst, followed by bass-baritone Davóne Tines and composer Matthew Aucoin, both Harvard College alumni, performing a song from the A.R.T.’s 2015 production of Crossing, commissioned by Paul Buttenwieser. An ensemble of students from Proclamation 5 joined Bethany M. Allen from Peer Health Exchange to share the impact of their experience with the A.R.T. The finale of the night was a sneak peek of the A.R.T.’s upcoming production, Jagged Little Pill.
