Emerging America is coming!

APR 4, 2011

A.R.T. Finding Neverland Party

The Emerging America Festival is right around the corner and is kicking into high gear. We’ve got some really exciting programming this year, which is all listed on the Emerging America site.

There are new audio plays being released every week. They’re site-specific, so the idea is to download the mp3 to your portable player, go to a specific location, and then listen to a play that was written for just that environment – it makes for a really interesting and immersive experience. This week’s is MEDIATHEQUE by Kirsten Greenidge (a Huntington Playwriting Fellow), to be listened to in the mediatheque at the ICA.
Beowulf had a successful and acclaimed performance at OBERON in 2010 – if you missed it then, it’s coming back for the Festival, so now’s your chance.
City Council Meeting is by Aaron Landsman, who played George in our production of Gatz by Elevator Repair Service in 2010.
Fornicated From the Beatles is created by Mikhael Tara Garver, the mastermind behind the sold-out performance extravaganza Experiment at the ICA, which opened last year’s Emerging America Festival. This piece is created specifically for the club theater environment at OBERON.
The Un-Official Guide to Audience Watching Performance brings a fusion of rap and movement to the stage from Raphael Xavier.
And we’re pleased to announce the winner of our 2011 Emerging America Festival artwork contest! Congratulations to Bill Ritchotte, whose festival artwork will be featured on our posters and festival guide — and you can see a version of it at the top of this page!

See you all at the Festival!
