Huntington’s Disease Society of America at “Woody Sez” Tonight!

Did you know that May is Huntington’s Disease (HD) Awareness Month?

Woody Guthrie is one of the most famous victims of this debilitating neurodegenerative disease, which is passed down genetically from generation to generation (if your parent has the mutant gene responsible for HD, you have a 50% chance of contracting the disease).  A cure has yet to be discovered.  To raise awareness of HD and those that suffer from it today, A.R.T. Community Connections has partnered with the Huntington’s Disease Society of America for a special event at Woody Sez, tonight (May 8th).  Members of the HDSA New England chapter and their families will attend the final preview of Woody Sez, hear a pre-show talk about Woody Guthrie and his legacy, and participate in a post-show discussion with the cast and creative team of the production. It’s sure to be a great experience.

Also, HDSA New England is gearing up for its annual gala on Saturday, May 19th, at the Boston Marriott Newton.  It’s Mardi Gras themed and looks like a fun party for a worthy cause. We urge you to support this organization through attending its gala or making a donation.
