Magic was in Teller’s blood from a young age, and, it turns out, so was Shakespeare. When he was ten his grandfather — a Russian immigrant who worked as a Philadelphia streetcar driver — gave the family a complete set of Shakespeare’s plays. 

Teller, the mononymous magician, says that his upcoming production of “The Tempest” began as the stuff of dreams — his, to be precise.

For the past few years, Teller, the usually silent half of the Las Vegas illusion duo known as Penn & Teller, has been conjuring an ambitious theatrical collaboration — a re-imagining of Shakespeare’s fantasy play “The Tempest” with a live band, acrobatic choreography and hefty doses of magic.

Make some calculations and find a way to get to the OBERON before this show closes on April 27.  This is one of those rare “NOT TO BE MISSED” works of art.

“The Shape She Makes” proffers an eloquent fusion of language and movement that pushes the boundaries of dance and theater without embracing the opaqueness that marks so many experimental productions.

Misner’s athletic dancing is stunning for its shameless libidinousness. Her choreography and what the rest of the troupe does with it is a pleasure to behold.
