[P. Carl takes the audience through] the complex emotions, realities and conflicts that surfaced while examining how becoming a man affected his identity, his place in the world and his relationships including his marriage.

[Playwright and Co-Director P. Carl explains], “I just know that for me, I never looked at a picture of myself and saw me until I transitioned. That’s how I know that I was never me; I mean, I was there and I wasn’t there.”

[Gibson] called the play, making its world premiere at the ART, “really rich, heart-wrenching, and beautiful storytelling with an absolutely stellar, beautiful cast.”

“I didn’t want this to be a solo show… The play encompasses several characters [an ensemble of seven actors performs several roles]. Of course it’s about my transition, but it’s also about my relationships with family, spouse, friends. Those are aspects every audience member can connect with.”
