Students Takeover Catfish Row!

SEP 29, 2011

Over 300 high school students were in the house yesterday for the matinee performance of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, and man, what a crowd!  I think all are in agreement that it was one of the loudest ovations the show has received yet.  Great job, guys.

The students came from three Education Experience partner schools:  Lowell High School, Cambridge Rindge & Latin School and the Commonwealth School.  After the show, many of the students stayed for a post-show discussion with members of the cast.  When asked to give advice for the cast of CRLS’s production of Hairspray in the crowd, David Alan Grier said:  “If you want to be a professional actor, quit now.  But if you still do it, after hearing that– you’re an actor.”

Check out some photos from the audience below.  Click here to learn more about the Education Experience.

A big thank you from the A.R.T. to Bill Wharton from Comm. School, Monica Murray and Brett Cramp from CRLS, and Deb Fowler from Lowell High!
