Harvard University President Emerita Drew Gilpin Faust will receive the 2019 A.R.T. Angel Award. Professor Faust believes in the importance of the arts in creating a more empathetic and robust society, and she has been a passionate advocate for the arts across the University. The A.R.T. is proud to honor her many years of dedication to the creative development of students and artists alike.
The American Repertory Theater Gala also raises critical funds for the theater’s artistic and educational programming each year. The A.R.T. collaborates with artists around the world to develop and create work in new ways, including this season’s world premieres of The Black Clown, Endlings, and We Live in Cairo. In addition, the A.R.T. actively engages more than 5,000 local students and community members annually in project-based partnerships, workshops, conversations with artists, and other enrichment activities both at the theater and across the Greater Boston area.
