For three weeks in August, Scotland’s capital becomes an unparalleled celebration of the performing arts and an annual meeting point for people of all nations. Every year, the Edinburgh International Festival presents a program featuring the finest performers and ensembles from the worlds of dance, opera, music and theater.

This August, join the A.R.T. in celebrating it’s 2018 production of HEAR WORD! Naija Woman Talk True as it premieres at the Edinburgh International Festival, and see some of the year’s most buzzed about emerging artists—including the iconic sell-out Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo! Dine alongside fellow theater-enthusiasts, and gain a deeper insight into the artistic programming of a regional theater.

AUGUST 19—Arrive in Edinburgh and check-in to your room at the Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh. Take the afternoon to yourself to relax or explore the city on your own. We’ll meet for a group welcome dinner in the early evening and then convene for our first performance of the trip: the opening night performance of HEAR WORD! Naija Woman Talk True at The Lyceum. Following the production, we’ll join the cast and creative team for the official after-party.  D

AUGUST 20—This morning we’ll enjoy breakfast as a group at the hotel and welcome a member of the Edinburgh International Festival’s Artistic team to speak with our group about their process of producing the Festival. After breakfast, guests are encouraged to take in a morning performance on their own or explore the city and reconvene after lunch for Stephen Fry’s one-man tour-de-force performance of Mythos: A Trilogy – Heroes at the Festival Theatre. Directly following the performance, we will travel as a group to dinner and then take in the third production of the week: 1927’s Roots at Churchill Hill Theatre. B, D

AUGUST 21—This afternoon, we encourage guests to explore the Festival on their own! We’ll meet for a 3:00pm performance of Total Immediate Collective Imminent Terrestrial Salvation at The Studio. Directly following, we’ll enjoy dinner as a group and then the evening opera Breaking the Waves at King’s Theatre. B, D

AUGUST 22—On the final full day in Edinburgh we’ll enjoy the sold-out performance of Sir Ian McKellen’s one man show at Assembly Hall, Ian McKellen On Stage, where he celebrates his 80th birthday and recalls seminal moments from his life and career. Our final evening together will be dinner at the Cannonball Restaurant & Bar and will include a VIP recital by members of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, followed by the official Tattoo performance at the Castle Esplanade. B,  D

AUGUST 23—This morning guests are encouraged to enjoy breakfast at the hotel and leave their bags with the hotel concierge while they explore any final spots in Edinburgh before heading home. B

Breaking the Waves is a wrenching moral drama about a woman’s twisted bargain with God.
