What would happen if the ocean could speak for itself? Ocean Filibuster invites us to explore the intimate and critical relationship between humankind and the ocean, and reflect on our place within this connection. Inspired by the show’s themes of ocean advocacy, the A.R.T. has partnered with several organizations that are leaders in climate advocacy, conservation, and sustainability. Below you can learn more about the work of our partners and how you can get involved in the fight for climate justice.
Learn about Our Partners
Conservation Law Foundation
For over 50 years, Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) has taken on powerful opponents who would pollute our air and water and squander our resources. Their deep local knowledge, legal acumen, and policy expertise make them a prime mover in building our clean energy future, countering climate change, and safeguarding our communities.
Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs
Bow Seat provides an innovative space for teens to connect, create, and communicate for the ocean. Working at the intersection of ocean science and arts education, their award-winning programming emphasizes creative thinking and making in exploring the natural world.
Mass Audubon
Mass Audubon is the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England. Founded in 1896 by two women who fought for the protection of birds, Mass Audubon carries on their legacy by focusing on the greatest challenges facing the environment today: the loss of biodiversity, inequitable access to nature, and climate change.
Take Action
We each have a place in the call to protect our oceans and join the fight for climate justice, but it can seem overwhelming to know where to start. Below are a few steps you can take right now, generated by our partners listed above.
Advocate for Change
There are many ways to support calls for reform and progress right here in New England. You can join these two urgent campaigns from our partners at CLF and Mass Audubon, who invite you to:
- Protect Cashes Ledge, a unique underwater mountain range located off the coast of New England.
- Help protect wildlife from being poisoned in our state.
Become Inspired
The Bow Seat Ocean Advocacy Art Gallery showcases the award-winning art, poetry and spoken word, creative writing, film, performing arts, and interactive and multimedia created by middle and high school youth around the world in response to their annual call for art, the Ocean Awareness Contest. We invite you to experience a selection of this incredible work in A.R.T.’s Box Office Lobby.
