The wild Festival of Dionysus from Ancient Greece meets modern underground club culture in Cyclops: A Satyr Play–an audience fueled performance event celebrating the only surviving Satyr Play.
Following a sold-out workshop last fall, Cyclops returns to Oberon, the immersive second stage of the American Repertory Theater, with an expanded production this September.
This interactive experience, conceived and directed by James Blaszko, reimagines the classic tale of Odysseus and his crew marooned on the island of the Cyclops amidst a sea of electronica, alternative rock, drinking, and artificial phalluses. A theatrical hybrid on its way to becoming a new cult classic, the best way to understand Cyclops and its following among culture vultures and club-goers alike is to experience it for yourself.
