Experience an unforgettable evening of music and visual theater as Juventas New Music Ensemble joins with Puppet Showplace Theater on a journey through 100 years of modern music. Travel back in time with Satie’s comical composition, “Things Seen Left and Right (without Glasses),” Berberian’s graphically-notated “Stripsody” (complete with Tarzan yells) and Stockhausen’s outrageous “Wings of the Nose Dance.” Finish the evening with a glimpse into the future of music – with robotic instruments – in a work by our youngest composer to date, the 15-year-old Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg. The evening also features a pre-show world premiere 30-minute mystery-theater opera, “The Cellist is Dead.” The May 5 performance will be followed by an audience talk-back with performers.
Music in Motion is made possible thanks to support from the NEA, Massachusetts Cultural Council and Cambridge Arts.
