Join A.R.T. at The Brattle Theatre on April 23 and 25 for two renowned film interpretations of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s beloved novel before the musical Gatsby makes its world premiere May 23!

  • Celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year, The Great Gatsby (1974) was written by Francis Ford Coppola and features Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. Runs 144 minutes.
  • The Great Gatsby (2013) was directed by Baz Luhrmann and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan. Runs 143 minutes.

In each film, Nick Carraway, a young Midwesterner now living on Long Island, finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbor, the nouveau riche Jay Gatsby. He is drawn into Gatsby’s circle, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy.

Co-presented with The Brattle, which has been showing the best in classic, cutting edge, foreign, and arthouse films since 1953.
