Jonathan Epstein

Jonathan Epstein, who was last seen as Picasso in Picasso at the Lapin Agile at the American Repertory Theater, returns to play Theseus in Phaedra and Antonio in The Merchant of Venice. He is an associate director of Shakespeare and Company in Lenox, Massachusetts, where he most recently played Shylock in Tina Packer's production of The Merchant of Venice. Other roles with that company include Falstaff in Henry IV, Part 1 and The Merry Wives of Windsor, Benedick in Much Ado about Nothing, and Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream. He has appeared on Broadway in A Meeting by the River, at London's Young Vic as Goethe's Faust, at the Shakespeare Theatre as Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew, and as Franz Mesmer in the Actors Theatre of Louisville's production of In Her Sight. Mr. Epstein was the recipient of the 1991 Otis Skinner Award for Outstanding Boston Actor.
