A.R.T.: The Onion Cellar. Performer, director and composer who is best known for her role as leader of the “punk cabaret” band The Dresden Dolls. After making her living from 1997–2003 as a Harvard Square “living statue” known as The Eight Foot Bride, Palmer turned to music full-time. After releasing three albums with the Dolls, she released (with the help of fellow pianist and producer Ben Folds) her first solo effort, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, along with an accompanying photography book of the same name that included short stories by writer (and husband-to-be) Neil Gaiman. She recently completed a two-year-long touring cycle that took her (and a troupe of Butoh- based Australian performance artists known as The Danger Ensemble under the direction of Steven Mitchell Wright) through Europe, North America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. She wrapped up her year with the Boston Pops for a historic New Year’s celebration in which Palmer was possibly the first pianist to put Tchaikovsky, Nine Inch Nails and Lady Gaga in the same program. Last year, Palmer and Cabaret director Steven Bogart collaborated on an original show (workshopped and performed by Palmer and students of Lexington High School) titled With The Needle That Sings In Her Heart, which was inspired by the music of Neutral Milk Hotel and the diary of Anne Frank. Her excitement to be working with Steven Bogart and the A.R.T. knows no bounds and she hopes to continue to keep one foot in the theater world as she continues down the long road of rock ’n’ roll.

Ari Barbanell is the Director of Special Projects, and the Associate Producer for the A.R.T.'s second stage and club theater, OBERON. Ari serves as the A.R.T.'s Producer for The Emerging America Festival, a collaboration with the Huntington Theatre Company and ICA/Boston that presents groundbreaking American performance. In 2000, she co-founded the New York City-based theater company One Year Lease, and now serves on its Board of Directors. Ari worked in New York with many theatre artists including The Wooster Group, Fovea Floods, and lighting designer Jennifer Tipton, and in Boston as a grant writer for The Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She holds a Masters in Arts Administration from Boston University and received her BA from Vassar College with a degree in Drama.

Steven Mitchell Wright has directed and worked on movement in the U.K., U.S., Hong Kong and Australia. He most recently directed the world premiere of In God We Trust for the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries. Steven is the Artistic Director of The Danger Ensemble and Vanguard Youth Theatre, both based in Australia. In 2008–2009, he directed and choreographed Amanda Palmer’s Who Killed Amanda Palmer World Tour. 2009 also saw The Danger Ensemble’s The Hamlet Apocalypse directed by Steven highly acclaimed and sold out at Melbourne Fringe 2009, followed by a subsequent successful season at Adelaide Fringe 2010. Steven has worked with The Brisbane Cabaret Festival, Laboite Theatre Company, Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre, Queensland Arts Council, Brisbane City Council and Boston Pops Orchestra amongst others. In addition to his work as a director, Steven is a specialist teacher in Somatic Actor Training Systems, having taught for Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University and independent intensive training workshops in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Hong Kong, Boston and London.

Previously assisted directors Erica Schmidt (Juilliard and Bard Summerscape), Lou Jacob (Urban Stages, NYC) and Crystal Field (Theater for the New City, NYC). Jillian has directed in New York at New World Stages, Manhattan Repertory Theatre and for Workingman’s Clothes (American Place Theater), as well as at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre. Jillian has taught acting at New York Film Academy as well as in New York City and Massachusetts public schools. She holds an M.F.A. in Directing from The New School.

Figurative painter Rick Berry began his career at 17 in underground comics, expanding into mainstream popular culture with art for Marvel and DC comics; major book and gaming publishers; and feature film (including a role as Keanu Reeves’s stunt double in cyberspace for Johnny Mnenonic). In 1984, raiding the digital labs of MIT Media Arts and Mass College of Art, he created the world’s first digital cover for a novel, William Gibson’s Neuromancer. Authors such as Neil Gaiman and Stephen King commission work, and Berry’s art continues to win awards and appear in numerous annuals. Berry taught at Tufts for three years, where he also created gallery paintings exploring political and social topics at four global symposia. His most recent exhibition, Parallel Evolutions, included an evening of collaboration with London based artist Phil Hale at Lucca Museum of Contemporary Art, Italy. Embedded artist in OperaBoston rehearsals, Berry’s large charcoals from the 2009 season were featured in his summer exhibition, Seeing in the Dark. Rick Berry maintains a studio in Medford, Mass. Kelly Roberge attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he studied saxophone with Paul Cohen and Donald Walden and received a bachelor’s of music. Roberge moved to Portland, Ore. to perform with the Ezra Weiss Sextet and study with saxophonist Rob Scheps. After one year in Portland, Roberge moved to Boston to attend the New England Conservatory where he studied with Steve Lacy, Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Brookmeyer, Ben Monder and George Garzone. After receiving his master’s degree from NEC, Roberge continues to live in Boston where he performs with many unique ensembles including The Quartet of Happiness (theater jazz), Eric Hofbauer’s Infrared Band (original avant garde jazz), Ronald Reagan (Boston’s premier 80s pop saxophone duo), All of Us (electronic solo quartet), the Rebecca Shrimpton Quintet (original vocal jazz), Black Planets (acid jazz), Slow Poken Turtle (reggae) and the Ayn Inserto Big Band (contemporary jazz orchestra). Roberge has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Japan. Some notables that Roberge has recorded or performed with include Vincent Herring, Antonio Hart, Michael Mossman, John Tchicai, Billy Hart, Mark Gross, Bob Brookmeyer, George Garzone, Curtis Lundy and the band Boston.

Tom Duprey has been actively playing trumpet in the Boston area since 1986 when he moved here to receive his Master’s degree in Jazz Studies/Composition at the New England Conservatory of Music. Since then he has performed in many regional, college and downtown musical theater productions. He has also performed for many star acts such as Dionne Warwick, Johnny Mathis, Robert Goulet, Tommy Tune and various other artists. He has played trumpet for the past eight years with the Boston Gay Man’s Chorus. These performances include world premieres at Symphony Hall and the Cutler Majestic Theatre, as well as performances at Jordan Hall and the Boston Pavillion. He can also be heard on two of the group’s CDs. Duprey’s latest musical project is playing cornet with TickleJuice, featuring the music of James Merenda. The group is an exploration of improvisation utilizing Merenda’s compositions as the material of inspiration. This is Duprey’s second A.R.T./OBERON production, having just finished playing trumpet and accordion for Cabaret this past fall. He’s totally pumped to play Prometheus Bound with its excitement, strong and timeless message and the challenge of playing no less than six instruments! It has been an absolute pleasure to work with such wonderfully talented individuals to put this show together from the ground up.

A.R.T.: Prometheus Bound, Cabaret. An actor/musician specializing on strings and horns, Finch has played beside artists as diverse as Alan Cumming, Amanda Palmer, Tony Bennett, Justin Bond, and Dee Snider. He was a cast member of the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Cabaret at the infamous Studio 54 (directed by Sam Mendes) and toured with the show in the United States, Canada, and Japan. In 2011 he made his West End debut with Woody Sez. Other productions of Woody include the Edinburgh Fringe, Glasgow Celtic Connection Festival and the U.S. premiere at the Lyric Theatre in Oklahoma City. Off-Broadway credits include Fame on 42nd Street and the New York premiere of Tennessee Williams’ 60-year-old play, Spring Storm. He also spent several years touring Europe, the US and Canada with Fame the Musicaland regionally has performed in Hank Williams’ Lost Highway, Grapes of Wrath,1940s Radio Hour, Fiddler on the Roof, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story andCotton Patch Gospel. Finch is proud to have been an Associate Producer at Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS in NYC from 2004–2006. Check out his newly released CD — the fiddle made me do it. Paul Dilley has been thriving in the fertile environment of folk, folk punk, punk “cabaret,” weird American gothic, straight up rock and roll, jazz of all types and bluegrass that is the Boston music scene. Since his three years at Berklee he toured nationwide (and much of Canada) with groups as diverse as Reverend Glasseye, Humanwine, Beat Circus and swing and jazz vocalist Miss Tess. For the past several years, when he hasn't been on the road he's been hitting the greater Boston area clubs hard with these acts and others such as Plough and Stars Sunday afternoon staple Frank Drake, or sax man Kurtis Rivers. This show is his debut as a pit musician.

Dov Michael Schiller is a professional freelance drummer, percussionist and timpanist. He attended the New England Conservatory of Music where he studied with a number of Boston Symphony Orchestra members as well as working with many fine jazz, rock, Third Stream and Klezmer luminaries.
After touring in Europe for ten years with various Broadway musical theater tours, Dov is now keeping busy with an incredible array of musical projects throughout New England, New York City and beyond. His freelance career includes positions as Principal Timpanist with the Handel Society Orchestra, Great Waters Music Festival Orchestra and Clearlakes Chorale. He remains an active member of the Vermont Mozart Festival Orchestra and the Rhode Island Philharmonic. He is the Artistic Director and founding member of the Mt. Elmore Music and Arts Center and enjoys playing with COSA BUENA, a four-piece jazz/latin/world ensemble (www.cosabuenavt.com). Dov is also a member of the fantasy rock band Moss Circle.
